Well, I went to my friend George's house to help him prep some ammo for a future range trip. While manning the seating station, I decided to try loading a few bullets backwards, just for kicks. Though I don't have anything but a hypothesis, the results are at least amusing...

Starting off, we have a fairly conventional XM193-ish 55 gr. FMJ anti-personnel loading.. next is that same bullet, loaded backwards. Since the 55 gr. FMJ isn't totally jacketed, the base is exposed lead, and the copper jacket should provide pretty good expansion. The last loading is a 62 gr. SP, inserted backwards. Apparenty this doesn't have the same exposed base as the 55 gr..

I think the second loading should be pretty effective on water jugs, but it's all speculation at this point; they may not even stabilize.

Oddly enough, while writing this, I decided to try them out in my magazines. Loading #3 doesn't seem to like feeding in my USGI 20 round magazines, but works great in my 30 rounders.. on further inspection, the front wall of the 20 round mags is raised higher.. peculiar, and I wouldn't have ever known it, were it not for my monkey-ing around.
