Nice...

This Blosxom blog script is an awesome piece of work... it's simple, but at the same time, ridiculously powerful. In under 2 hours, I've been able to put together a working weblog on a totally unsupported webserving platform (Win2k/Apache 2/ActiveState Perl).. The next couple days hold even more prospects for seeing new tech come around; I'm pretty excited.

Unfortunately, like anything simple/minimalistic, to get higher-level functions, you often have to pretty much hack your way around the abstractions made at a user-level to eliminate complexities. Take for instance the date appearing beneath the title of the weblog entry.. It's a minor cosmetic sort of tweak, but that particular bit of "magic" took the better part of half an hour to figure out, because the answer was simply too bizzare.. I had to blank out a configuration file.. not unheard of, but there are only five configuration files...

But then again it might just be simplicity of an extreme type, because once I figured it out, it took 5 seconds to do. It takes a genius to see the obvious sometimes, it's said...

Someone else some time ago also said something about genius being 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration.. Edison was on crack, but I'm tired.. I'll work on this again when I wake up in a few hours... the ability to leave comments is my #1 priority now..
